Boulder, Colorado. W. F. Young, Inc., maker of Absorbine® quality horse care products, has joined The Equine Network, the nation’s leading publisher of horse-related content, in a pioneering national effort to help equines across the country in need of care and shelter through A Home For Every Horse.
The program is a collaboration of The Equine Network and The American Horse Council’s Unwanted Horse Coalition designed to place, foster and sponsor America’s homeless horses. Efforts began earlier this year to solicit and post free listings for horses available for placement through nonprofit rescue organizations on Equine.com, the industry’s largest website for buying and selling horses, trailers and farms. To date, more than 65 shelters have become involved. The Equine Network is using its connection with more than 1.5 million horse owners each month to promote the program through its online and print outlets. The first equine to find a home directly as a result of the program was a mule named Missy who was adopted by a Florida family in January.
Tyler Young, W. F. Young CEO and the fourth generation to lead this family-owned business, said, “We’re very proud to participate in this wonderful program. Our entire company is centered on caring for horses and other companion animals, and we fully embrace the opportunity to help with this important issue. Each horse that finds its “forever home” through this program will enrich the life of his or her owner as much as the owner will enrich the horse’s life. In a way, this program allows us to honor the legacy started by my great grandparents, who developed Absorbine Veterinary Liniment to take care of their own horses.”
Absorbine, based in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, joins Tractor Supply Company and Purina Mills as initial sponsors of A Home For Every Horse. “We’re delighted to have Absorbine, a company that truly knows all about taking care of America’s horses, join us in our effort to help the horses in this country most in need of care,” said Dave Andrick, Equine Network Group Publisher. “We’re very pleased they’re joining in our efforts to make a difference in this industry-wide issue.”
